wands or staffs?
hi ive posted this in the mesmer section because its my main, but it really applies to all caster professions. is there any recommended build for casters, in the way of - are staffs better than wand+focus? i noticed the ele heroes, gwen, and ogden all have staffs, but even though dunkoro and tahlkora are also monks, i think they both started off with single-handed weapons and focuses.

i use staffs on heros just cause i am lazy.
any builds that rely on enchants, other then MoR should use a +20% enchanting mod via a staff or caster sword/axe/spear.
if not running enchants, then not that big of a difference between the two.

I would say you should use staffs, I personally dislike the -1 energy regen from rod/offhand combo. But I also agree with the poster above me that you should use rod/offhand for enchant stack heavy builds.

It's at the top of the page. In the same bar as User CP.
It's also "wand" not rod. Just so you know.

Well, you can always go a 40/40 set and cast your spells more . While you can change into a staff set for enchantments and stuff . Maybe even a sword/shield set for defense .

hmm ok so swapping around is the key. so if i have a wand and focus with no energy boost, then change to a staff with +10, does that immediately give me 10 energy, or just raise my max by 10?

Weapon Switching.
Try searching the forum instead of just making new threads. This has been covered over and over and over.

it really depends on what you up against, your build, and your play style. if you play style includes weapon switching then use both

Rod & Off-hand would be more beneficial.
If you're running PvE skills and/or enchantments, Staff.
Weaponswitching, as mentioned above, is a stronger tactic though.
